We would love you to join and compete for SUAC for season 2022! There are 2 preferred registrations options depending on whether you are a track & field athlete OR whether you compete off the track in winter road & cross country races:
2022-23 Athletics NSW (Open or Concession) Athlete Membership for the period 1 October 2022 to 30 September 2023 for both the ANSW Summer Track & Field AND 2023 Winter seasons (2022 – 23 summer & winter season expected to be open August 2022)
OR
2022 RunNSW Winter Series Membership for the period 1 April 2022 to 30 September 2022 for the 2022 winter season ONLY (registration via methods below open for cross country, road & recreational run athletes as of February 2022, excludes all Summer Athletics NSW Track & Field events). Event calendar here
A third option of 2021-22 Community Membership exists which is primarily designed for those who wish to experience community 3k and 5k races (ie non-Championship races) and non-Championship winter events put on by Athletics NSW throughout the season.
We recommend almost every athlete select the Athletics NSW Athlete Membership (1st option) except distance athletes who have missed the Summer Track & Field season. We can also offer Community Athlete registration as well as Club Official registration. Scroll below FAQs on how to join!

We can register athletes from U14 to 100+. For Little Athletics NSW Dual Registration, read also the specific section at the bottom of this page.
You must be registered to compete in Athletics NSW & Athletics Australia sanctioned events and Championship events. Season competition can be found on the Athletics NSW website (there are also reciprocal arrangements with other States). Some events are free to enter, others are pay entry per event. SUAC covers race entry for NSW State Relays & Club Championships as well as all winter relay races and enters as many teams as there are athletes willing to compete. We also offer free entry to ES Marks track on Monday nights and strength & conditioning sessions to eligible athletes at Sydney Uni high performance gym. You also get to be part of Australia’s first & finest athletics club and have a great time with a great bunch of people. And we organise lots of trips and run a heap of fantastic social events!
No, this is entirely separate to registration but we offer sprints, middle distance & distance coaching for runners aged 16 and older committed to 2 or more training sessions per week as well as free entry to ES Marks track on Monday nights. For details see Training
Yes, free sessions exist for SUAC registered athletes at the David Mortimer High Performance Gym under the supervision of our strength & conditioning coach Miles Downie at scheduled session times Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8:00am – 9:30am. Further details will be supplied upon registration.
Yes you absolutely should! If you’re not keen on running on the track at all, the 2021 RunNSW Athletics NSW Winter Series Run series registration provides discounted or free entry to RunNSW events and enables you to earn points for SUAC in the Winter Premiership as well as testing yourself against the rest of the State across all age groups.
No. You should register as a Athletics NSW Open or Junior Athlete. If it is Autumn or Winter and you’ve missed the current Track & Field season, you should be winter training however as you will be on the track or field in no time!
No, the two options are 2019-20 Athletics NSW Athlete Membership (includes Summer & Winter seasons) OR 2020 RunNSW/Waratah Run Series (Winter) season only.
Sadly no despite the University being around since 1850 however we expect to re-launch RUNSYDUNI in semester 2 2021, a 4km fun run and pre-event training sessions around campus. The closest public track is ES Marks Athletics Track (Anzac Parade, Moore Park) operated by Centennial Parklands Trust.
SUAC was founded in 1878, that’s over 140 years of wearing the club uniform which has featured proudly around the world including IAAF Diamond League meets by Nick Hough, James Nipperess, Jenny Blundell & Nicola McDermott and made a memorable appearance at the World Beer Mile Championships by World Championships representative Jack Colreavy.
Singlets, training tops, crop tops, shorts and briefs can be purchased through the Registrar from the University of Sydney (by appointment only), at training or at some meets.
Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness administers all aspects of the scholarship program, see susf.com.au.

Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness Annual Membership
As a member of SUAC and/or to compete at Australian University Games you also need to be an annual member of Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness, our parent organisation, which is available online at susf.com.au or via the Registrar. Annual Memberships are $10 Sydney Uni Students, $60 non-students, $30 U18. You also get access to Member rates at SUSF’s health & fitness facilities.
Little Athletics NSW Dual Registration
Dual Registration allows Little Athletics athletes to have free registration for competition with a senior athletics club of their choosing. This is designed to make younger athletes more aware of senior athletics and provide a more visible pathway in accordance with the OneSport strategy.
Please read the FAQs above as several are also relevant to Dual Registered athletes. Being a University club means we do not have a current affiliation with Little Athletics clubs, nor do we have a junior program like we do University Games or scholarship programs.
They do not have to compete, it is entirely up to you as all Athletics NSW events are open to enter online (also on the day in non-Championships events). Some competitions may be age graded, others such as Allcomers meets are Open age so it is best to check the ANSW website. SUAC currently does not run its own meets but Dual Registered athletes have in the past competed at NSW Relay Championships in events where relay teams can be filled.
Dual registration can be done via the link above.
